The API implementation has been streamlined for developers to start using it as soon as they create an Abstractive Health account. An API key can be acquired from the web application once the user's account is created and be used in our sandbox environment while the account is being verified. Before the account is verified, there is no access to the health information exchange. We provide extensive documentation, as well as a starter “plug and play” Jupyter Notebook to help developers get acquainted with pulling records from the Health Information Exchange as well as requesting AI summaries. The average lead time of implementing the API is about 1 week, depending on the complexity of the integration.
